Tips

The Canary archipelago is located next to Africa, near the Sahara and Morocco. The Canary Islands are one of the autonomous communities of Spain, with Spanish being the official language. The archipelago is formed by 7 main islands: El Hierro, La Gomera, La Palma, and Tenerife, which form the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife; and Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, and Lanzarote, which form the province of Las Palmas.
The Canary Islands have a volcanic origin and have a subtropical climate, which makes the islands to have great biological diversity. They have human natural patrimonies and several protected parks and biological reserves.

Must visit & Major attractions:
- Tenerife: The island of Tenerife has an unmistakable colonial architecture and an impressive cultural diversity, a mixture of Europe with Africa and Latin America. This makes the food to be spectacular and the typical festivities are full of curiosities. In Tenerife, there is, according to them, the second largest carnival in the world, after Rio de Janeiro. The historic center of Puerto de La Cruz is a mixture of colonial houses with tropical landscapes, everything very well maintained and organized, with an excellent structure for tours along the coast and visits to some craft houses and typical products. Do not miss the Teide National Park, where the Teide volcano is located, considered to be the highest peak on Spanish territory. You can also enjoy watching the whales and discover the rich underwater fauna of this Island.
- Lanzarote: it is simply an explosion of colors, smells, and tastes. It consists of dormant volcanoes, beautiful beaches with plenty of natural pools. You cannot miss a visit to the Timanfaya National Park, and watch the incredible rock formations. If you have a special taste for diving and surfing, then this is the right place, as its waves are considered the best in Europe.
- Papagayo Beach, Lanzarote - A luxury catamaran can take visitors to the golden beaches of Papagayo in Lanzarote. If you're lucky, you will be able to see some dolphins and whales.
- Dunes of Maspalomas, Gran Canaria - glimpse a different part of the world through the spectacular 400 hectares of dunes along the Coast of Grand Canaria Island. The dunes also provide a habitat for a large number of rare plant species, some of which can only be found in the Canary Islands.
- Isla de Lobos, Fuerteventura - tranquility and natural beauty, the island of Lobos is a nature reserve and offers the opportunity to observe plants and birds that are not found anywhere else on the planet, surprisingly due to its deserts and volcanic landscapes.
- Santa Cruz La Palma is a beautiful seaside town with palaces, churches and old houses dating from the 16th and 17th centuries. This is the main harbor of the island and the capital and it has been declared a Cultural Heritage.
- Garajonay National Park, La Gomera - this Park has the largest continuous areas of Laurisilva forests, a habitat that almost disappeared from southern Europe and North Africa. The park has streams and springs that help to give non-typical lush vegetation to the Canary Islands.

Gastronomy
In Canarian cuisine, there are strong ingredients such as Millo (the name given to corn), papas (potatoes), which due to the volcanic origin of the land have a different texture and has a great variety of fish, such as la Vieja (rockfish) the grouper fish. And of course, there is the internationally recognized Canarian banana, one of the most complete and tasty fruits that exist. But one of the things that promote better the Canarian gastronomy is its products with the origin denomination. In all islands, you can find delicious wines with their origin denomination.
The wrinkled papas with mojo pincón (potatoes with spicy sauce) are perhaps the best known dish in the islands, along with el escaldón, a dish made from cereal flour (called gofio) and fish broth, as well as other typical dishes: Ropa vieja, Cazuelas (fish stew), Sancocho (a dish prepared with fish, potatoes and sauce), Carajacas (liver with sauce) ...
Don't leave without trying the Goat cheese, the palm honey, the salt flower, the Malvasia wine, and the Quesadillas.
