Tips

In the Mediterranean Sea are located the Balearic Islands. They are Islands with beautiful beaches, deserted beaches, and impeccably preserved beaches. The climate is dry and temperatures are high during the period from April to August. From September to March it is not advised to go to the beach because it can be cold.

The Mediterranean coast has many beaches and beautiful islands, like Ibiza, known for its hype and its mega discos; Palma de Mallorca, a sophisticated seaside resort; and Minorca, quieter.

Must visit & Major attractions:
- Ibiza: It is the largest and most bustling island of the Balearic Islands, being also the best well known. It has beautiful beaches, a warm and tropical climate, a pleasant evening atmosphere.
- Menorca: In Menorca, we can find small "Calas", which are, no more or less, small beaches between rock formations, and are undoubtedly the biggest attraction of this island. Being one of the quieter islands of the Balearics, this area manages to keep its pace quite calm even during the summer season. A beautiful, almost arrogant nature with a turquoise sea that digs the white crumbly stone in the high rocky walls to the south, and endless open sea beaches to the north with its volcanic red and black rock.
- Majorca is the largest island of the Balearic Islands archipelago. The mild climate and the location make this island a much sought-after and appreciated tourist destination. This island has several attractions, and you cannot miss Palma de Mallorca, the capital of the island. In the capital of the island, Palma, history is visible in its monuments. They are a must-visit, the Cathedral of Palma - construction started in the 14th century -, the Almudaina Palace and the Basilica of Sant Francesc. The Museum of Majorca, in the Palau Ayamans dating from the 17th century, was inaugurated in 1968, and hosts numerous works of art that are related to the history of the island, from paintings, ceramics and prehistoric objects, for example.
Away from the confusion of the beaches, on the northwest coast, in the Serra de Tramuntana, there are villages, with stone houses, and besides the car routes, it is possible to make trails. At the northern end of the island, dazzle yourself with the Cap de Formentor. This narrow line of land, the peninsula of Formentor, is surrounded by high cliffs. The highest part of Formentor, Fumart, is 384 meters above sea level. On the island road, you will find the Mirador des Colomer (Colomer's belvedere), overlooking the sea. Enjoy the panoramic view from the guard tower of Talat of Albercutx, from the 16th century.
Valldemossa is considered one of the most beautiful villages of Majorca. It lies in the mountains about 17 kilometers from the capital Palma. With only two thousand inhabitants it is a picturesque, well-kept place that enchants all with the historic streets decorated with flowers. All very well preserved, with cafes, restaurants, shops and art galleries. It is easy to see why this was the place chosen by many artists (like Chopin) to find inspiration.

Gastronomy
Mallorcan cuisine offers all the advantages of Mediterranean food, which is considered one of the most complete and healthy. It represents the different cultures that shaped the identity of a place, and it is this variety that gives the Mallorcan gastronomy the prestige it has today. Most of the products used are produced on the island itself, resulting in dishes with a full range of high-quality meats, fresh fish and a delicious assortment of seasonal vegetables and fruits. The Mallorcan gastronomy is marked by the use of olive oil, typical of the region, which goes well with the lightness of vegetables and fruits and with the refined taste of the wines there. The fish is equally important, there are several dishes whose protagonists are the seafood, all found in the most traditional restaurants on the island called "Cellers".
One of the best-known foods in Mallorca is Frito Mallorquín - a dish with guts (liver, lung, and heart). A very well-seasoned dish and the mixture with potatoes, peppers, and garlic make everything more harmonic.
The Tumbet is the best-known option in the area. The dish comes in layers and even resembles lasagna. Potatoes, zucchini, eggplants, peppers, and tomatoes are the basic ingredients of this traditional recipe.
Sobrasada it’s a very tasty pork sausage. It is usually seasoned with salt, black pepper, and sweet pepper so the taste is so striking and intense.
GATÓ MALLORQUÍN, sweet almond cake, of wet consistency, perfect when also accompanied by ice cream.
